What parents and teachers are seeing

The answer now arrives before the thought does.

They paste the question.Watch a kid do homework with AI. Many don’t read the question any more. They paste it and copy what comes back.
Work they can’t explain out loud.Ask a teacher what changed in two years. Answers come in finished; the reasoning behind them is missing.
Never wrong, never learning.A machine that is always right removes the part where a kid guesses, misses, and tries another way. That part is where thinking is built.

Bedtime is the one twenty minutes a day nothing else has claimed yet. That’s where Storybranch lives.

How it works

A story that won’t move until your child decides.

  • 1
You read. A classic square picture book, 50 pages, one new adventure a month on the Night Train to Anywhere.
  • 2
It stops and asks. Every few pages the story turns to your child: climb to the observatory, follow the sparkle trail, or ride the train up the hill?
  • 3
They choose, and live with it. Nobody answers for them. Some paths work. Some don’t. They go back and try another door.

The curriculum inside the story

Seven thinking skills no machine will practice for them.

Every Storybranch book is built on the same seven skills. Each adventure leads with two, so a year of bedtimes quietly covers them all, many times over.

Skill 1Think first, then ask

Form a plan before anyone hands you a menu of answers.

Skill 2Break big problems down

A lost star and a dark sky is too big. “Where would you start?” is not.

Skill 3Ask sharp questions

The right question, not just any question.

Skill 4Spot what’s not true

Tempting guides and too-good promises train the reflex that catches confident nonsense.

Skill 5Weigh the trade-offs

Two okay options and no right answer on the page. Just theirs.

Skill 6Learn from every outcome

Dead ends name the lesson out loud, then send you back to choose again.

Skill 7Choose what’s right

When the fast path and the right path split, which one does your child take?

Dead ends, on purpose

AI never lets a kid be wrong. This book does.

In Book 1, Rowan grabs the spyglass in a hurry and ends up staring at the moon’s reflection in a duck pond. Nothing bad happens. Tick the mouse covers his eyes, your kid laughs, and the page sends everyone back to choose again.

“A tool is only as wise as the plan behind it.”Maren the Star-Keeper, The Station of Falling Stars, page 8

Three dead ends in every book. Safe places to miss, feel it, and choose better. The reps a screen never gives.

“The judgment, curiosity, and self-trust that make humans strong users of AI aren’t installed later in life — they’re grown early. That’s why starting in childhood matters.”Dr. Khizer Khaderi, MD, MPH · Founder, Stanford Human Perception Lab

The seven-skill framework and its translation into story mechanics were developed in partnership with the lab. A portion of every subscription supports its research.

The Grown-Up’s Ticket, the parent guide that comes with every book
Included with every book

The Grown-Up’s Ticket: what to notice while you read.

A four-page parent guide for each adventure. Which two skills this book leads with, what to say at each fork (and what not to say), how to read the dead ends, and three thirty-second conversations for the car the next day. No homework. Just a better twenty minutes.

It also tells you how to do the voices. The Conductor is slow as syrup. Tick the Ticket Mouse is fast-fast-FAST.

Questions parents ask

What ages is this for?

Three to eight. Younger kids point at the picture and say which door. Older kids read the choices themselves and argue with you about them. Both are the point.

Is this anti-AI?

No. AI is going to be part of your child’s life and we think that’s fine. What we care about is a kid who can still think when the machine isn’t there, or is wrong. Storybranch practices that habit while it’s cheapest to build: at bedtime, at four, with you.

Can I pause or cancel?

Yes, any time, from your account in two clicks. Pause for a month or three, or hold the train indefinitely; when you come back you pick up at the next book. No fees, no phone calls.

Do I get the books in order?

Yes. Everyone boards at Book 1, The Station of Falling Stars, and gets the next station each month. The series is one shared world, so order matters.

What if it’s not for us?

Cancel in two clicks from your account and nothing else is charged. Every book is printed to order, so there are no returns, but if anything arrives damaged or misprinted we reprint it free. You keep the books you have.

Is it really screen-free?

Completely. It’s a printed book and a four-page printed guide. The only thing that glows is the lamp.

Give them the reps before the world gives them the tools.

Books that branch. Minds that grow. A monthly book, a nightly ritual, a lifelong skill.
